Gulf Air launches Ramadan community service
Manama, August 3, 2011
Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, has launched Ramadan activities with the distribution of Iftar boxes to several mosques today.
The initiative saw volunteers from Gulf Air visiting several mosques in the kingdom to hand-deliver thousands of Iftar boxes. The dates and other eatables packed in the Iftar boxes were sourced from local women charity organisations to support them as part of the airline’s ongoing corporate social responsibility programme.
“The real essence of Ramadan is giving and sharing; expressing this spirit is the feeding of others, which is one of the religious traditions of Ramadan,” said Samer Majali, Gulf Air CEO.
“As the national carrier of Bahrain, we consider reaching out to people with our little Ramadan Iftar Boxes as a humble gesture. It is also an opportunity for us to support local charity organizations by purchasing the food items for the boxes from them.”
Gulf Air will be giving away 3000 special Gulf Air Gargoun gift hampers to children arriving and departing from the Bahrain International Airport later this month, a statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
