New tax partner at Baker & McKenzie ME office

Abu Dhabi, May 9, 2011

Leading law firm Baker & McKenzie announced that Sophie Jouniaux, tax partner, has relocated to the firm’s Gulf practice from Paris and will be based in Abu Dhabi.

Sophie Jouniaux’s practice focuses on international corporate tax law, with particular emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, international tax planning and restructuring.

Sophie joined Baker & McKenzie in September 2002 and became partner in January 2008. Prior to joining the Firm, she practiced French and international tax law at Andersen Legal in Paris and taught French and international corporate tax law at theHautes Etudes Commerciales in Paris and at the University of Montpellier I.

“Sophie has extensive experience in international tax planning and transactional tax work for major corporations, including tax optimization and her arrival adds a new dimension to our practice in the Gulf. She is also a member of Baker & McKenzie’s Global Wealth Management Group and will be workingclosely with our private banking, wealth management and family office contacts in the region,” said Borys Dackiw, managing partner of the firm’s Gulf operations.
