Bahrain set to host Arab eContent prize

Manama, May 5, 2011

Bahrain is set to host the Arab eContent Award 2011, hosting the awards ceremony for the second time.

The ceremony will be held under the patronage of Deputy Premier and Supreme Committee of Information and Communication Technology head Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa during Bahrain International eGovernment Forum from May 16 to 18.

The award is part of World Summit Awards and registration and evaluation were conducted based on an internationally recognised system.

It aims to strengthen Bahrain's efforts towards encouraging eContent innovation locally and internationally as part of global initiatives to bridge the digital gap between United Nations member states.

The Arab eContent Award also aims to bolster co-operation between Arab nations by recognising their products.

It is given in eight categories - eGovernment, eEntertainment, eHealth, eLearning, eScience, eInclusion, eBusiness, and eCulture.

A total of 150 UN members, including 22 Arab countries, have qualified for the award this year.-TradeArabia News Service
