New Bahrain panel to probe worker dismissals

Bahrain has set up a committee to look into dismissals of workers upon the orders of HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and will be headed by the Labour Minister.
The panel has been directed to investigate decisions by different probe committees in this regard and their compliance with rules and regulations.
The committee, which will start work immediately, will follow up on leadership's keenness not to harm workers' interest or affect their future, Labour Minister Jameel Humaidan told our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
The committee will submit its report to HRH the Premier at the earliest, the minister said.
The panel also includes the Civil Service Bureau chief, Justice, Islamic and Endowments under-secretary for justice affairs and head of legislation and legal affairs authority.
Separately, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning under-Secretary Dr Nabeel Abufateh said the ministry is committed to the civil service regulations, particularly about attendance.
The ministry will refund amount cut from salaries of workers who are found to have been absent from work with valid reason. The refunds will start from today, he said. – TradeArabia News Service
