PAL Technology names contest winners

PAL Technology, a subsidiary of the Royal Group and PAL Group, has announced the winner of its university-level competition which encouraged local students to devise sustainable solutions for the construction industry.
Students were asked to submit an illustration of their sustainable solutions in regional construction, specifically focusing on desalination plants, district cooling and sustainable construction models.
The winning entry ‘Solar Energized Domestic Water Treatment System’ was submitted by Amanullah Najmal, Hamed Mohamed and Ziad Naji. The team was presented with a cash prize of Dh5,000 ($1,361) and a two-week internship at PAL Technology’s Abu Dhabi district cooling plant.
The second prize of a Dh3,000 gift voucher was awarded to Ahmad Said Dibajeh, Hani Adnan Abdel Razeq and Omar Fawaz Abbas for their entry ‘Reduction of Energy Consumption’.
The third prize of a Dh1,000 gift voucher was awarded to Ahmad Abdulkader Khartabil, Ahmad El Achkar and Waddah Al Hawat for their entry ‘Sustainable Transportation Strategies’. All of the winners are from Abu Dhabi University.
Final entries were exhibited on the PAL Technology stand at the recently concluded Arabian Construction Week at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre where visiting construction professionals helped select the winning submission.
“We were very impressed with Amanullah, Hamed and Ziad’s submission as we felt it demonstrated innovation, an excellent understanding of the principles of sustainability and a practical application of ‘green’ and efficient methodologies,” said Syed Basar Shueb, PAL Technology’s general manager.
“As an organisation we are driven by achieving excellence and innovation in the area of sustainability and we are confident that the students and PAL Technology will benefit from working side by side during the internship for a greener future,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
