Bahrain starts eContent entries evaluation

The registration process for 'Bahrain eContent Award 2011,' is over and the jury has begun evaluation of the entries from different companies in the Kingdom vying for top IT honours, said the organisers.

Companies in Bahrain are competing for the coveted the eContent awards being given in 10 categories: (eGovernment), (eEntertainment), (eHealth), (eLearning), (eScience), (eInclusion), (eBusiness), (eCulture), (eBanking), and (eMedia).

The organizing committee for the 'Bahrain eContent Award 2011' said the evaluation process began on Saturday and will continue for the next five days.

The award, patronized by Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (SCICT), aims to encourage innovation in the field of eContent in Bahrain by awarding distinctive participations in 10 different categories to contribute to highlighting these participations globally and represent Bahrain in the World Summit Award (WSA). 

The jury comprises international and local members (13 members) that have vast ICT background experience in the field of information and communications technology.

The members include chairman of the Organizing Committee for the Bahrain eContent Award Nawaf Abdulrahman (also chairman of Bahrain Internet Society), Jack Boumans (senior consultant in electronic media reporting in Netherlands), Alfredo Ronchi, (Professor of computer aided design & politecnico di Milano as moderators), Ghazwa Sulaibeekh (lecturer, IT Society coordinator, College of IT at University of Bahrain), Ali Beshara (chief position control at Civil Service Bureau), Nader Ameeruddin (video production technician at University of Bahrain), Zuhair Al Kooheji (account manager at Navigis Mena), Nani M. Butti (acting chief of IT at General Organization for Youths and Sport (GOYS), Mohammed AlDoseri (supervisor IT and Telecommunications at Kuwait Finance House), Hana A. Ghaffar (senior computer specialist at Ministry of Education), Abbas Kassem (GM at Onyx), Basil Al Arrayedh (director of Communication & Affairs at TRA) and Ali Al Mishal eBusiness & relationship manager at Credimax.

Nawaf Abdulrahman said the jury will assess the participations submitted based on international standards adopted in the eContent industry which are implemented in the WSA in terms of the quality and comprehensiveness of content depth and genuineness.

The focus will be on ease of use and navigation, adding values through multimedia, attractive designs, the use of visual and sound effects, and high quality technology, in addition to the strategic importance of the participations in the development of information community at the world level.

During the evaluation process, the jury will be keen to apply the award guidelines and criteria fairly with all Bahraini participations that have participated in the Bahrain eContent Award 2011.

The Jury, after evaluating and discussing the participations, will select the best work within the categories outline, to be awarded by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, in addition to qualifying 3 winning participation from each category, by the organizing committee of the Bahrain eContent Award 2011 for the WSA to represent the Kingdom.-TradeArabia News Service
