Talks needed, not protests: Saudi minister
Riyadh, March 9, 2011
Dialogue is the best way to resolve any problems in Saudi Arabia, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal said on Wednesday, adding that Muslim clerics had banned protests in the kingdom.
"The best way to achieve what citizens want is through dialogue whether in the eastern region, or the western, southern and northern regions," the minister told a news conference.
Saudia Arabia, whose oil wealth has provided a high standard of living compared to much of the rest of the Arab world, was widely thought to be immune from spreading Arab unrest, but small protests have taken place with more called for Friday. - Reuters
