Bahrain extends eContent registration deadline

Manama, March 2, 2011

The eGovernment Authority (eGA) and Bahrain Internet Society (BIS) have extended the deadline for companies to register for 'Bahrain eContent Award' to March 8.

The Bahrain eContent Award, being held under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak AI Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology, is aimed at honouring innovative projects in the Kingdom.

The award committee organisers said the deadline extension was in response to requests from participants who sought more time to finish their projects.

Bahrain eContent Award organizing committee chairman Nawaf Abdulrahman, said, 'The committee's response to these requests, stems from its commitment to allow the largest number of Bahraini projects to participate in this award, due to its importance at  the Arab regional and international levels.'

Abdulrahman said although it’s too early to judge the participating projects  there is a remarkable growth in  number, for some categories, such as the eScience and eInclusion.

'This is simply an indication for the expansion of the Bahraini electronic production which has entered new grounds,' he remarked.

The categories for the Bahrain eContent Award 2011 include eGovernment, eEntertainment, eHealth, eLearning, eScience, eInclusion, eBusiness, eCulture, eBanking and eMedia.-TradeArabia News Service
