Qatar ecoQ signs German deal

Qatar International Environment Protection and Sustainable Energy Exhibition (ecoQ), has signed a co-operation agreement with the German Industry and Commerce Delegation (AHK).

The MoU aims to encourage and facilitate the participation of German companies in ecoQ by promoting and strengthening ecoQ profiling as a platform for green technologies in Qatar.

The agreement was signed on Sunday at the Friends of the Environment Center (FEC) by Dr Saif Ali Al-Hajari, founder and chair of Friends of the Environment Center (FEC), head of ecoQ’s Advisory Committee, and Dr Peter Gopfrich, delegate of German Industry and Commerce for Bahrain / Kuwait / Oman / Qatar.

Senior executives from both sides attended the signing ceremony including executives from Stallion Advertising and Exhibitions, ecoQ organizer, along with AHK’s Qatar office team lead by Yasmin Furstmann, AHK-Qatar’s Senior Representative, and Karen Raphael, Projects Manager, AHK-Qatar.

According to the MoU, both parties will establish a 'Joint Working Group’’ to identify and create information base for potential businesses from Germany in the environment protection and green technologies sector as well as to encourage German companies to participate in the Germany Pavilion at ecoQ Expo.

AHK team will also work with ecoQ to facilitate Inputs and involvement of Environment experts from Germany to exchange information on research and environment development.

Commenting on the agreement, Dr. Al-Hajari said: “Investing in environment development will bring prosperity for generations to come. It is an investment in the future of Qatar.”

“We thank the German Industry and Trade Delegation for their efforts in promoting and strengthening business relations between Qatar and Germany,” he added.

Dr Peter Gopfrich said he was delighted at the opportunity to further expand its partnership with ecoQ and help in highlighting potential investment opportunities in renewable energy and environment protection technologies sector.

“Germany is a country of innovations, high-end technologies and products, particularly in Renewable Clean energy and Environment Protection industry. This MoU reflects the interest of many companies in Germany to introduce its technologies and products in line with Qatar’s National Vision 2030,” he stated.

ecoQ Expo & Conference, to be held from September 17 to 19 at Doha Exhibitions Center, will showcase latest technologies and products in solar energy, green building, sustainable cities architecture, energy efficient industrial products, energy saving technologies, water treatment and desalination technologies, sewage, industrial waste treatment and pollution control technology, solid waste disposal, recycling technologies.

Besides it will also have focus on air pollution treatment, e-waste, marine protection and reservation, vessels waste treatment technologies, anti-pollution and noise technologies, eco friendly agriculture technologies and products, eco friendly transportation, aviation & aerospace bio-fuel and eco-friendly cooling systems, said Dr Al-Hajari.

The ecoQ is also planning a number of events and campaigns in parallel to the expo in order to increase public awareness on environmental issues, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
