Diyar Al Muharraq plans green initiatives

Diyar Al Muharraq, one of Bahrain's biggest mixed-use residential urban developments, has announced a series of green initiatives aimed at expanding the frontiers of corporate social and environmental responsibility in the Kingdom.
Following up its highly commendable support of various environmental initiatives in the past years, Diyar Al Muharraq has already taken part in four important environmental events this year through partnerships with various organizations.
On January 27 and 28 at the World Environment Summit, Middle East Dialogue Bahrain 2011 & the Sustainable Planet Film, the company participated as golden sponsor.
The event was held under the patronage of Dr Abdul Hussain Bin Ali Mirza, Minister of Oil & Gas Affairs & chairman of National Gas and Oil Authority (Noga) at the Ritz Carlton Hotel & Spa.
Also as a part of their ongoing CSR activities, Diyar Al Muharraq partnered with the Muharraq Communal Society to organize a project to clean old Muharraq market with the participation of school students.
The company also pledged its support as Golden sponsor for Water Arabia Conference & Exhibition organized by the Electricity and Water Authority & Saudi Arabian Water Environment Association (SAWEA), under the patronage of Minister of Works and Minister in charge of Electricity and Water Authority, Dr Fahmi Bin Ali Al Jowder.
Diyar Al Muharraq was also involved in a social program, Recycle IT, last year.
Commenting on the initiatives, Diyar Al Muharraq CEO Aaref Hejres said, “Our philosophy, along with the government, and our program partners, has been and will always be to focus on creating and maintaining a healthy, clean and beautiful environment for all residents of Bahrain.”
"The momentum with which we have started this year is just the beginning of the campaign. 2011 will bring many challenges and opportunities to make a difference," Hejres stated.
