Football greats ready for Emirates Cup

Some of the greatest names in football are in Dubai preparing for the Emirates Challenge Cup, which will see Italian team, AC Milan go head to head against local club Al Ahli on January 2.
With likes of Brazilian superstars Ronaldino and Robinho, as well as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Pato in the AC Milan squad, fans will get to see some of the world’s footballing elite take on the local club, who currently sit at equal third in the UAE football league.
“We are excited to be here in Dubai as we prepare for our upcoming season. We know this match will provide us the challenge we need to be on top of our division this season. And to be playing in a city with such avid football fans it will be an exciting evening for all,” AC Milan Manager, Massimiliano Allegri said at a press conference in Dubai.
This match will prove to be an exciting challenge for both teams, as AC Milan prepares for the second half of the 2011 season and Al Ahli has the chance to test their skills against the world’s most successful club.
“We look forward to enjoying the warm weather and the first class training facilities provided to us here in Dubai this week and are thankful to Emirates for their support,” he added.
“It is going to be a tough challenge taking on AC Milan, yet we are ready and confident that all spectators will be thrilled with the match and the quality of football on the field,” said Italian-born Al Ahli captain, Fabio Cannovaro.
“Our squad is fired up and ready to have a friendly match against such an international field of superstar players,” he added.

The January 2 match is scheduled to kickoff at 8pm at the Al Ahli Football Club, Rashid Stadium, in Al Quasais. Ticket prices have been set at Dh100 ($27.2) to Dh150 for adults and Dh50 to 75 for children under 12.-TradeArabia News Service
