DJI launches training program
Dubai, December 29, 2010
Dubai Judicial Institute (DJI), a leading center of law studies and judicial training, has launched a training program targeting legal consultants and researchers working with various government bodies and private sector organizations.
The program, which runs till Thursday, focuses on the importance of the function of legal consultants in government departments, in addition to the nature of this profession and its related specialties, said a DJI statement.
It covers the methods adopted in framing legal documents and aligns with DJI’s plans of investing in human resources in order to develop expertise in the field of legal research and consultancy, with the underlining aim of boosting the UAE judicial system, it added.
The launch of this program reflects DJI’s trust in the pivotal role of both the private and public sectors in contributing to Dubai’s all round growth and also for building an integrated knowledge-based society.
The primary tasks of legal consultants include offering legal counsel, preparing memos and reports, and conducting research related to law, the DJI said.
The program involves discussion on the key requirements and qualifications that should be met by legal consultants in order for them to be able to efficiently perform their assignments.
Commenting on the program, Dr Judge Jamal Al Sumaiti, director general of DJI, said: “It manifests our mission of increasing investments into human resources and is a solid contribution to the development of legal and judicial personnel as it will enhance their qualifications as per the highest standards of excellence.'
'When we were planning this initiative we particularly focused on legal memos as they are important requirements among law practitioners. Such memos provide valuable updates on the latest scientific and professional trends and encourage the use of best practices within the legal system,' Al Sumaiti remarked.
Hassan Arab, associate at Al Tamimi and Company Advocates and Legal Consultants, said DJI plays a pivotal role in taking the practice of law in Dubai to the next level.
'As a leading law firm in the region, Al Tamimi, is proud to introduce the training and development program for legal consultants working in the various government departments and sectors. We hope this would be an extra step in furthering collaboration between our firm and the Institute towards realizing the expected results,' he added.
The program sessions include a practical workshop for training participants on composing memos, consultancy reports, and studies, offering legal advice, and discussing other relevant administrative specialties.-TradeArabia News Service
