Alcotexa sells 1,209 T cotton in past week

Egypt's Alexandria Cotton Exporters' Association (Alcotexa) committed to sell 1,209 tonnes of cotton in the week that ended on December 4, an Alcotexa official told Reuters on Sunday.

The sales comprised 421 tonnes of the Giza 88 variety and 788 tonnes of Giza 86, the official said.

Alcotexa's export commitments for the 2010/11 season, which began in September, are now 84,199 tonnes of cotton worth $304.67 million, the official said.

By this time last year, Alcotexa had sold 35,705 tonnes of cotton worth $78.5 million.-Reuters
