Oxford Business Group (OBG) has appointed Gregory Kramer as its new editorial manager in Bahrain.

In his new role, Kramer will co-ordinate the work carried out by OBG's research and editorial team for the group's forthcoming publication on the kingdom's economy, The Report: Bahrain 2011.

Kramer said he looked forward to analysing the significant developments taking place in Bahrain's financial services sector, which are being propelled by the growth of the Islamic banking segment.

'Bahrain is carving out a niche for itself as a hub for Sharia-compliant banking to help maintain itself as the financial centre of the Gulf,' he said.

'This move, which is a key component in the kingdom's broader plan to continue diversifying its economy away from hydrocarbons, is something our team will be following closely.'

Kramer joins the Bahrain team from Jordan, where he worked on OBG's recent publication on the country's economic activity.-TradeArabia News Service
