Bahrain's victorious Special Olympics team was honoured during an event at Bapco Club in Awali.

It was held under the patronage of Special Olympics Bahrain president and Middle East and North Africa Regional Leadership Council for Special Olympics president Shaikh Daij bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.

The Bahrain team won 45 medals, including 21 gold, 14 silver and 10 bronze, during the seventh regional games held at Damascus last month.

General Organisation for Youth and Sports president Hisham Al Jowder was the chief guest at the event.

Special gifts were presented to the 50-member delegation courtesy of Bahrain Financing Company (BFC).

Sponsors, including Chevron Bahrain, Sree Ayyappa Seva Samithi, Al Hilal Group, Bahrain Airport Company, Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo, GPIC, Banagas and BFC, were also honoured by Shaikh Daij.

The Bahrain Cycling Association, Bahrain Table Tennis Association and Bahrain Swimming Association were also honoured along with Bahrain Television and the media.-TradeArabia News Service
