Emaar plans classic car show
Dubai, November 6, 2010
Emaar Properties, the leading Dubai-based developer, will host the third edition of its Downtown Dubai Classic Car Show from December 2 to 4, featuring a line-up of classic cars from passionate collectors.
The show is being organised in collaboration with the Automobile & Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE), the official representative in the UAE of the 'Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens' (FIVA), the world-wide authority for historic vehicles.
Hundreds of classic cars from different eras and of varying models will line up at specially erected pavilions on Emaar Boulevard, overlooking Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.
Colourful parades of the classic cars as well as keenly contested competitions for a range of prizes will add to the excitement. Several private collectors are also expected to showcase their exclusive collections – some on public display for the first time ever.
“With two successful editions, the Downtown Dubai Classic Car Show has established itself as one of the most popular events held in Downtown Dubai, the new heart of the city,” said Ahmad Al Matrooshi, managing director, Emaar Properties.
“The Show, ordinarily held in February, will henceforth be held on the UAE National Day as our tribute to the nation.”
“Classic cars have a strong symbolic association with heritage. By hosting this show on UAE National Day, we are underscoring the rich cultural identity of the nation and creating a differential lifestyle experience for visitors to Downtown Dubai – one of the vibrant lifestyle destinations in the city,” he added.
Mohammed Ben Sulayem, president of the ATCUAE, said: “The UAE has a large community of classic car lovers and we’re very happy to support Emaar Properties in staging an event that will be enjoyed by enthusiasts and the general public on National Day.”
Competitions will be held for the ‘best car’ in 14 categories including a public choice award to be voted by the public. Eminent classic car experts will score the cars on the basis of car originality, engine cleanliness, original car colour, historical car value, finishing and aesthetics. – TradeArabia News Service
