Metito unveils $12.25m expansion plan

Dubai, October 19, 2010

UAE-based Metito, the leading provider of water management solutions, has unveiled a Dh45 million ($12.25 million) expansion on its build-operate-transfer (BOT) wastewater treatment project at Dubai Investment Park.

The recently completed expansion of the project takes the total installed capacity to 31,000 cu m per day.

Future expansions in the Park are expected to bring the total capacity to 80,000 cu m per day. Services provided by Metito Utilities include the financing, design, supply, installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance and the eventual transfer of the wastewater treatment plant.

The plant is modular in design, allowing for the addition of phases based on continuous growth of DIP. The entire project will service 23 sq km and a population of 350,000, when completed.

Rami Ghandour, executive director of Metito Utilities, said: “Metito’s holistic approach ensures there is a strong focus on design, project management, and operations and maintenance. With our considerable experience we have been able to provide DIP a fully customised modular system, which is also environmentally-friendly and cost effective.”

“Quality water for irrigation is a fundamental requirement for the development of DIP,” said Walid Madwar, general manager of Metito Utilities.

“It is very important to maintain strong infrastructure to help support the ambitions of DIP. Metito is a pioneer in water and the wastewater treatment industry and we have the expertise and local knowledge to carry out this kind of important project,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
