UK-based EMSc, a leading provider of energy solutions to manufacturing industry and business, has launched its efficient voltage optimisation system, Powerstar, in the UAE.

Powerstar, which can help industries cut power costs by up to 26 per cent, was introduced to UAE-based companies during a seminar held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Center.

The unit has an efficiency of 99.91 per cent; the highest currently sold in the UK, ensuring that it maximises energy savings for a specific voltage reduction, said a top official.

'Powerstar can therefore cut electricity costs by up to 26 per cent and can lower CO2 emissions, explained Dr Alex Mardapittas, managing director of EMSc UK and Powerstar designer.

'Payback period for Powerstar is typically between one year to more than two years. As we design and manufacture the Powerstar system, we fully understand how and where it works best.'

'Voltage optimisation is not about selling boxes, it’s about designing an engineering solution for your building. This is exactly what Powerstar does,” he added.

The voltage optimisation works by lowering the incoming voltage to more accurately meet the loading requirements of machinery, equipment and lighting in a building, said Dr Alex while addressing delegates at the seminar.

The seminar, he said, was timely as the UAE is officially associated with the Copenhagen Accord, the general agreement on climate change limiting economic impacts on oil producers and supporting carbon capture technology and nuclear energy.

It was an opportunity for the UAE-based companies to learn the technology behind voltage optimisation and how it can help them reduce energy consumption and their carbon footprint.

'Powerstar operates ensures that incoming power matches the needs of the site through a uniquely designed system. Powerstar guarantees savings from costly electricity bills while increasing the life expectancy of electrical accessories, equipment and machineries,' he added.

According to him, powerstar has been awarded the prestigious Made In Sheffield accolade in recognition of the manufacturing quality of the product. Voltage optimisation is one of the fastest growing energy saving techniques in the UK and Europe.
