V&B unveils new collection in black ceramics
Dubai, August 17, 2010
Leading Germany-based ceramics manufacturer Villeroy & Boch (V&B) has introduced a new collection of ceramics for walls, floors and sanitary elements in deep and glossy black.
“Black is strictly speaking not a colour at all, but rather represents the absence of colour itself,” said Kai Steffan, creative director of Villeroy & Boch. “Black is a mysterious state without colour, a state that releases emotions and fascinates without end.”
“In other words, black depicts a void, but all the same a void that vigorously occupies our perception. Loaded with symbolism, black is interpreted differently in many different cultural settings, and the colour never ceases to fascinate: the appeal of black is definitely irresistible,” he added.
Memento, the purist collection for the bathroom, is a reflection of a successful reduction of form in unpretentious, rectangular bath elements – not just in radiant pure white but also in rich black.
International designers still turn to black, delivering variations on a theme, a theme that thrives on a wide range of materials and offers a broad palette of shades and hues. The black spectrum also features elegant ‘black colours’, and at the extreme, the greatest contrast of all: white.
Creative use was made of the tremendous range of possibilities of ceramics to vary gloss levels, surface structures, grain size, looks and formats, V&B said in a statement.
As a result, the tiles with their high-gloss surfaces and three-dimensional tone-in-tone motifs give the impression of the finest porcelain on the wall, it said.
The interpretations of black in ceramic that V&B has in store are made-to-order for people who want to furnish their bathrooms in superior style, with an emphasis on individual extravagance, the statement added. – TradeArabia News Service
