Harris Corp wins $8m Middle East order

Rochester, NY, July 28, 2010

Harris Corporation, an international communications and IT company, said it has won an $8 million order to supply tactical communication systems and Falcon II and Falcon III radios to a Middle East customer.

Harris, however refused to name the customer. The company only said that it had been contracted to develop the system design and architecture as well as implement the first phase of an important Command, Control and Communications (C3) system for the nation's armed forces.

The C3 system will provide users with integrated tactical voice and data communications.

As part of the order, the customer will be acquiring the Harris Falcon III RF-7800S Secure Personal Radio; the Falcon III RF-7800W High-Capacity Line-of-Sight Radio; and the RF-5800M Multiband Handheld Radio.

'Harris tactical radios provide customers with the full range of communications capabilities and are in use around the world,' said Andy Start, president, international business, Harris RF Communications.

'This extensive portfolio of software-defined radios provides built-in interoperability and information security, offering a platform for expandability and systems integration. We are aggressively harnessing the power of this portfolio as part of pre-packaged system solutions for our customers.'

The Harris Falcon III RF-7800S Secure Personal Radio is a lightweight 'wearable' radio that provides individual warfighters with an easy-to-operate solution for voice and wideband data communications.

Designed to address soldier system communication requirements, the RF-7800S operates in the 350- to 450-MHz frequency band. The radio provides more than two km range over open terrain, and easily penetrates through buildings and dense foliage.

The Harris Falcon III RF-7800W is a wireless IP networking radio used to establish secure broadband connectivity for mission-critical applications over long distances in point-to-point and point-to-multipoint configurations. The radio enables militaries to deploy Ethernet-intensive low-latency applications needed to overcome hostile forces.

The Falcon II RF-5800M-HH is a software-programmable handheld radio supporting continuous VHF/UHF operation across the 30 to 512 MHz bandwidth.  RF-5800M radios provide multi-mission, multi-mode secure interoperability in a compact, lightweight package.-TradeArabia News Service
