Giant Manchester FC shirt tours Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi, July 11, 2010
The giant Manchester City FC shirt which toured Abu Dhabi as part of Etihad Airways’ growing support for the Premier League outfit, made its final stop at the Summer in Abu Dhabi festival.
Taking centre-stage at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre’s (Adnec) Hall 11, the focal point of Summer in Abu Dhabi’s family activities, the 18x22 metre replica shirt – the largest-of-its-kind in the world - was on display, in a bid to collect more than 5,000 signatures.
After the weekend, the shirt was flown to the UK where it was unveiled at the opening Manchester City FC home game, emblazoned with goodwill messages from UAE residents and visitors.
As an extra bonus, fans who pledged their support for the club and signed the shirt were entered into a draw to be the club’s mascot at a home match next season. They also get a chance to win a Manchester City FC shirt.
“This is just another great reason to come down to Summer in Abu Dhabi and be a part of something special. Football fever has certainly gripped the country and the giant shirt promotion gives fans an opportunity to leave a long-lasting mark with one of the sport’s powerhouses,” said Faisal Al Sheikh, events manager, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), which organises the six-week Summer in Abu Dhabi and is the Official Destination Partner of Manchester City FC.
Summer in Abu Dhabi 2010, running until August 4, includes great family activities, award-winning international acts, best-in-class edutainment and unbeatable ticket, hotel and attraction deals in Abu Dhabi city and Al Ain, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
