Egypt's GASC buys 120,000 T Russian wheat

Egypt's main government wheat buyer General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) said on Saturday it had bought 120,000 tonnes of Russian wheat for July 21-31 shipment on a free on board basis.
Nomani Nomani, vice chairman of the GASC, said about 60,000 tonnes of Russian wheat from Venus were bought at $165/tonne and 60,000 tonnes of Russian wheat from Aston at $165/tonne.
Egypt is the world's largest wheat importer. Since the start of the current financial year in July 2009, GASC has purchased 5.53 million tonnes of US, French, Russian, German, Kazakh and Canadian wheat at international tenders.
In the previous fiscal year, GASC bought at least 5.07 million tonnes of imported wheat.-Reuters
