Diyar backs Bahrain water expo

Manama, June 9, 2010

Diyar Al Muharraq, one of Bahrain’s biggest mixed-use residential urban developments, is supporting a major upcoming energy and water conservation event in Bahrain as a gold sponsor.

The third edition of the Energy and Water Conservation Expo will be held at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre from June 14 to 16, and is open to both industry professionals as well as the general public.

The expo is geared to host the event for determining and identifying energy and water conservation techniques that can be used in the commercial and industrial sector.

Companies participating in the expo will have an opportunity to present technical papers related to energy or water conservation. The expo will also aim to raise awareness among the general public about the importance of conserving energy and water resources and how this will catalyze Bahrain’s future economic growth.

“Even though the Middle East has about 80 per cent of the world’s oil reserves, our region is also amongst the world’s largest energy consumers,” said Aaref Hejres, CEO of Diyar Al Muharraq.

“Statistics show that our energy consumption levels are very high when compared in proportion to our population.”

“This is quite an alarming state of affairs and events like these will go a long way in educating the general public about the importance of conserving energy and water. Energy and water are two things we need to use judiciously and make sure that our future generations too have access to these precious resources,” Hejres concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
