Yemen rebels free 178 soldiers, civilians

Sanaa, March 17, 2010

Yemen Shi'ite rebels have freed 178 captive government soldiers and civilians, Al Arabiya television reported on Wednesday, a day after Sanaa accused them of dragging their heels on implementing a truce deal.

A top Yemeni security body had said on Tuesday that the rebels were not fully complying with a ceasefire deal struck in February to end a long-running war that drew in neighbouring oil exporter Saudi Arabia. – Reuters
