Germany eyes Mideast raw wood market
Dubai, March 2, 2010
Germany-based companies have registered collectively to participate at an upcoming event showcasing wood products and machinery in Dubai, aiming to further the growth of exports of German raw wood to the Middle East, said a statement.
The fifth edition of Dubai WoodShow 2010 will run from April 13 to 15 at the Dubai Airport Expo.
The German Pavilion will be dedicated to the participating German companies, which will showcase German-made wood products and innovative new technologies, the statement added.
The GCC region is one of the leading destinations for German wood/wood products, with latest available statistics revealing the UAE as among its top buyers, with imports hitting EUR61.3 million ($82.8 million) in 2007.
It was followed by Saudi Arabia (EUR38.3 million), Qatar (EUR7.7 million), Kuwait (EUR6.7 million), Bahrain (EUR2.8 million) and Oman (EUR1.8 million).
“The consistent participation of German companies at the Dubai WoodShow reiterates the effectiveness of the event as a platform for growth within the global wood industry; this has also captured the attention of a major German wood association to visit Dubai to personally see the existing and future opportunities in the Middle East,” said Dawood Al Shezawi, managing director, Strategic Marketing & Exhibitions.
“We welcome our future partners and their representatives - Alois Geiger, chairman and Dr Rudolf Luers, CEO of Gesamtverband Deutscher Holzhandel,” he added.
“The German Pavilion is one of the pavilions that register the highest footfall in the show, which translates to tangible sales and partnerships with large-scale customers from across the globe.”
Dubai WoodShow 2010 will also feature the first annual Dubai WoodShow Forum, a series of exclusive keynote sessions delivered by high profile experts, academics and top executives from the entire wood industry spectrum.
Another new addition to the show is the Dubai WoodShow Roundtable, which is a dedicated platform for exclusive B2B business meetings among exhibitors, potential clients and future partners. – TradeArabia News Service
