$11m backing for key Tamkeen scheme

Manama, March 1, 2010

Tamkeen has signed a BD4 million ($10.6 million) agreement with Ebdaa Bank to launch the Bahraini Farmers Support Programme, on the sidelines of the Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS) 2010.

It is looking to support 600 farmers by proving them with state-of-the-art equipment and techniques.

The unique programme aims to support the agriculture sector by increasing the farmers' harvest and raising the efficiency of agricultural and livestock production.

The GAS, one of several offered by Tamkeen under its EDS programme, is a co-financing one designed to support enterprises and make them sustainable by increasing the reach of their products and services through participation in local and regional trade exhibitions such as the BIGS.

The support provided by Tamkeen covers the space rental at the show, plus the design and installation of stands.

Bahraini enterprises are assisted in various programmes by the EDS Agency, managed by KPMG Fakhro, which recently opened its dedicated premises at Meral Building, Seef, to facilitate application process.

Interested entrepreneurs will be able to take part in an orientation session and then apply to the programme that will answer their needs such as the Business Development, Technical Assistance, Quality Management Systems and Growth Assistance schemes.-TradeArabia News Service
