BFH to launch art gallery

Manama, February 13, 2010

Bahrain Financial Harbour (BFH), a $3 billion master-planned development, will shortly launch an art gallery which will be located in the West Atrium of the Harbour Towers and directly connected to the Harbour Mall.

The 275 sq m gallery will help promote art by taking the work of contemporary Bahraini artists to a global audience and also exposing the local population to the best in regional and world art.

“We firmly believe that BFH is an integral part of the social and economic life of Bahrain and we have always endeavoured to introduce path-breaking innovations and new ideas in all spheres of our activity, whether in the area of technology or fine arts,” said Dr Omar Al Mardi, managing director, Bahrain Financial Harbour Holding Company (BFHHC).

“We are delighted to provide this platform to encourage and catalyse our local artists and we are confident the gallery will add great value to the cultural life of Bahrain, making it part of the world art scene,” he added.

“Our basic approach has always been to give our residents and visitors a holistic work-life environment and we feel art contributes in a big way in this respect, playing a very intrinsic role in promoting creativity and developing our sensibilities as human beings.”

Dr Al Mardi continued: “The gallery is a refreshing change from the conventional, being stylishly and elegantly designed to let natural light filter in through transparent glass walls while permitting panoramic views of the sea on one side and the city on the other.”

“It gives BFH a truly inspiring and contemplative ambience, radiating a dynamism and harmony that is very much in keeping with the lifestyle we seek to promote, which is a subtle mix of the traditional and modern,” he concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
