Kuwait Shell holds eco-workshops for students

Kuwait, January 26, 2010

Kuwait Shell recently held its 3R 'reduce, reuse and recycle' workshops program at the New English School (NES).

The workshops were delivered over a period of one week, in collaboration with Mad Science, which is an independent science enrichment provider that delivers hands-on educational science experiences for children.

The 3R workshops served as a platform for over 300 elementary students to help them explore the concept of environment and realise that they can make a difference if they implemented the 3R key principles of reducing, reusing and recycling a wide range of materials.

“The underlying principles of our 3R workshops are in line with what we are trying to do here in Kuwait – make the best of our natural resources in order to minimize waste and help reduce any negative impact on the environment,” added Ahmed Mouti, Kuwait Shell chairman.

“The 3R workshops are aligned with our environmental programs at school.  We have created a ‘Litter Patrol’ program which aims at categorising waste which saw us recycle 3 tons of plastic and 10 tons of paper last year alone,” stated Heather Pollet, head of the Environmental Program at NES.-TradeArabia News Service
