Dubai's crown prince on Thursday said one of its main government bodies would be reorganised, as the debt-laden emirate tries to improve its decision-making process.

Under the restructuring, Dubai's Executive Council will be organised around five new committees, according to the official state news agency.

The move will "enhance decision-making process within the various government sectors in Dubai," according to the resolution issued by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Once-booming Dubai in the past decade relied heavily on borrowed money to fuel its aggressive expansion, but the global financial downturn sparked a debt crisis.

The 5 new committees are:
* Economic development commission, chaired by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of Emirates, Dubai Civil Aviation    
* Commission on security and justice, chaired by Dahi Khalfan Tamim, commander in chief of Dubai Police    
* Commission for social development, chaired by Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, director general of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the establishment of Dubai    
* Committee on infrastructure and environment, chaired by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa)
* Health and safety commission, chaired by Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality - Reuters
