Verbatim rolls out new Multimedia HDD

Dubai, December 28, 2009

Verbatim, a leading player in the development of data storage technology, has launched the MediaStation HD DVR, a multimedia hard drive that records and plays content directly from TVs, cable/satellite set-top boxes, DVDs or VHS players.

Offering high definition video playback and streaming capabilities from home networks, the MediaStation HD DVR provides a central entertainment device for the home to record, store and play video, photos and music.

With its built-in DVB-T receiver for digital terrestrial TV combined with its recording capabilities, Verbatim’s MediaStation can record directly from your TV, DVD or VHS player, the company said in a statement.

Its 1 TB of storage space provides room for up to 500 hours of recordings, 1,420 videos, 330,000 music tracks or 1,000,000 photos.  It can also record directly to and from a memory card (SD, SHDC and Memory Stick), USB drive or external hard disk drive.

Recordings can be programmed via the electronic programme guide (EPG), and favourite TV programmes can be paused and rewound using its time-shift functionality, the company said.

The “One Touch” buttons on the front of the drive make it very quick and easy to record programmes and to copy photos to the MediaStation’s hard drive.

The MediaStation HD DVR plays stored content on the TV in high definition (1,080i resolution) and can show HD JPEG photos and up-scale standard definition movies to 1080i.

The device supports WLAN, which means it can be linked with ease to the user’s home network.  This makes it the ideal partner to a NAS drive, on which all multimedia content can be stored.

These models are now available in retail stores including Carrefour, Panda, Lulu & Emax. Verbatim’s authorised distributors in the UAE are Mix Max Trading and Despec.-TradeArabia News Service
