Arabic stars to perform free at F1 concerts

Leading Arabic performers including the UAE’s very own singing sensation, Hussein Al Jasmi, and Lebanese superstars, Fares Karam, Myriam Fares and Ragheb Alama, will give free concerts on Abu Dhabi Corniche as part of the Yasalam celebrations.

Announcing the full details of the Corniche concerts, Flash Entertainment, the Abu Dhabi-based events company, said the concerts will be part of 'Beats on the Beach,' brought to the city by TwoFour54, which will see five nights of local, regional and international talent performing an eclectic mix of music live on the beach.

Beats on the Beach is an integral part of Yasalam - one of the most diverse and ambitious city-wide entertainment programmes ever seen by a Formula 1 host city, the company said.

Yasalam, meaning ‘wow’ or ‘amazing’ in Arabic, will spread excitement as the country leads up to its biggest ever sporting event - the 2009 Formula 1™ Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

On October 27, Abu Dhabi will welcome among others:

*Myriam Fares - (performing from 8.30pm) – a Lebanese singer who is seen as a one of a kind artist in the Middle East with her combination of classic and modern songs, a remarkable voice and dance moves. She first shot to fame as winner of the publicly-voted Lebanese Song Festival at age 16.
 
*Fares Karam (performing from 11.30pm) – also hailing from Lebanon and most famous for the world-wide hit ‘Tannoura’. Fares Karam has quickly succeeded in standing out amongst all artists and he is now considered the number one artist singing traditional Lebanese songs.

*On October 28, Music Hall: (from 7.30pm) – cabaret-style music hall theatre with a mix of local and foreign acts, jazz, pop, belcanto and stand-up comedy from the acclaimed venue of the same name in Beirut. The one-of-a-kind nightclub venue will now be transferred for one-night-only under the stars on the Corniche.

*On October 29, Hussein Al Jasmi (performing from 10.15pm) – an Emirati singer well known for his beautiful voice and romantic song selection. Under the management of Rotana Records, Hussein Al Jasmi is now flying high to conquer the Arab music world.

*On October 30, Abri (performing from 9pm) - described as 'the best original band Dubai has ever seen' (Time Out), has recently been nominated for the MTV European Music Awards 2008. Their powerful blend of Soul, Jazz and R&B is sure to keep the crowds entertained.

*Ragheb Alama (performing from 10pm) –born in 1962, this Lebanese singer is often known as the ‘superstar’ and has distinguished himself in singing from an early age. In April, 2009 and for the first time in the Arab world, Ragheb Alama achieved the platinum award from Virgin Megastore in Dubai for the highest sales of albums.

*On October 31, Dahab will perform from 7.20pm onwards. An acoustic trio that was created in 2004, their music can be defined as ‘acoustic ethnic rock with a 70’s influence.

*Mohamed Hamaki (performing from 8.30pm) – the famous Egyptian young singer achieved major success through his first song entitled 'Al Helw Yehib El Heneya' in 1996. Since then he has continued to release hit albums and singles widely known across the Middle East.

Other acts performing as part of Beats on the Beach include international superstar DJ, Timbaland, UK dance pioneers, Soul II Soul, and reggae legends, The Wailers.-TradeArabia News Service
