Flash Entertainment, the Abu Dhabi-based events company, has announced that American rock band 'Kings of Leon' will perform the final act of 'Yasalam After-Race Concerts on Yas Island' in Abu Dhabi on October 31.

Kings of Leon will deliver their debut Middle East performance to an adoring crowd of UAE and international fans in this unprecedented line–up of top international acts for Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix race, said a Flash statement.

The band, formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 1999, consists of three brothers and their cousin. The band’s first three albums which featured nine classic singles, achieved multi-platinum success across the UK, Ireland and Australia and led to a series of highly successful world tours and the headline slot at the prestigious 2008 Glastonbury Festival.

Following the release of their fourth album “Only by the Night” in 2008 they went onto achieve success in their native United States. The album included the hit singles “Sex on Fire”, “Notion” and “Use Somebody” the last of which became a number one single on American Rock Radio.

This year has brought continued success for Kings Of Leon seeing them headline a number of major music festivals including Reading & Leeds, Rock Werchter, Oxegen, T in the Park along with Sasquatch, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits in the United States.

This year has also seen them win their first Grammy Award for the single “Sex on Fire” as well as two Brit Awards for “Best International Group” and “Best International Album” and an NME Award for “Album of the Year” with “Only by the Night”.

John Lickrish, managing director of Flash Entertainment, said: “We are thrilled to have secured Kings of Leon to perform in Abu Dhabi for the post- race crowd. To attract a band of their stature who are in such great demand the world-over is a tremendous coup for Flash and for the city.'

'Their popularity is phenomenal and we are delighted that they are coming to perform at the Yasalam after-race concerts on Yas Island,' he added.

The Yasalam After-Race concerts are exclusively for Grand Prix ticket holders and will be taking place at the Concert Arena, Ferrari World, Yas Island throughout the weekend.

People who have purchased a 3-day F1 Race ticket will be able to access all four nights of after-race concerts, and if they have purchased a 2-day ticket they will be able to access the concerts on Saturday and Sunday only.
