Meat & Livestock Australia names Mena head

Dubai, September 27, 2009

Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA), the international marketing arm of Australian meat producers, has appointed Lachlan Bowtell to the post of regional manager Middle East and North Africa.

Bowtell will have responsibility to maintain and increase the Australian meat and livestock industries’ leading market positions across the GCC, the Levant, Egypt and the Maghreb countries.

“The region is home to some of the most lucrative MLA markets with the UAE and Saudi Arabia topping many categories in terms of regional sales,” said Bowtell.

“Australian meat and livestock is revered across the region for its nutritional value, halal attributes, food safety protocols and unsurpassed taste, texture and quality and our job at MLA is to ensure that all our customers in the region always make an informed choice about the meat and livestock they select, for whatever purpose.”

After 15 years representing the Australian Beef and Sheep producers and processors at all levels in the Australian market, he now comes to the Middle East North African region to assist in further developing this vital market for the Australian industry.

Lachlan is a passionate ambassador for the Australian red meat and livestock industry and is a frequent key note speaker at many trade events in Australia and overseas on food trends and marketing.

Lachlan also has professional associations with many industry groups such as the Australian Graduate School of Management, Australian Institute of Management, The Australian Culinary Federation, World Association of Cooks, and has received several industry awards for his commitment to the development of individuals and training of young up and coming individuals.-TradeArabia News Service
