Dubai 92 voted best radio station
Dubai, June 2, 2009
Dubai 92, part of the Arabian Radio Network (ARN), has been declared the emirate's ‘Best Radio Station’ following a month of public online voting for the 'Best in Dubai Awards 2009'.
The oldest English FM frequency in the GCC, Dubai 92 received the emphatic public endorsement from 30,000 voters, said a senior official.
Mahmoud Al Rasheed, general manager of ARN, said: “A huge thank-you and congratulations to the entire team at Dubai 92 for coming out with top honors at the Best in Dubai 2009 Awards. It is great to see this team’s passion, dedication and commitment rewarded in such a way.”
“Dubai is a very competitive market,” commented Steve Smith, chief operating officer of ARN.
“To have had so many nominations (City 1016, Dubai Eye 103.8, Virgin Radio Dubai 104.4 and Dubai 92) is not only a singular achievement but also bears testament to the round-the-clock hard work that is put in by our specialised teams at ARN,” he added.
Brought under the ARN umbrella in 2004, Dubai 92 features world class programming and presenters such as Catboy and Geordiebird in the Breakfast Show and Sarah Kilalea on Dubai Drive.
Steve Pulley, head of ARN English Programming, stressed that “The success of our programming is due to the fact that we cater to a diverse audience and that we are constantly asking our listeners what they want to hear, what they are interested in and what we can do to make this radio station Dubai’s number one station across the board.”
The region's fastest growing radio network and communications service, the ARN group comprises Arabic stations Al Arabiya, Al Khaleejiya, and Noor Dubai; English frequencies Virgin Radio, Dubai Eye, and Dubai 92; and City 101.6 (Hindi) and HIT 96.7 (Malayalam) channels.-TradeArabia News Service
