Samsung launches CSR program in Egypt

Cairo, March 5, 2009

Samsung Electronics recently launched its CSR program in Egypt with Nahdet El Mahrousa (NM).

Samsung had earlier launched its global CSR initiative in association with the International Youth Foundation (IYF).

The Samsung 'Real Dreams' program in coordination with NM will partner with several organisations to implement the Real Dreams initiative.

These partners include Alashanek Ya Balady for Sustainable Development, Business Enterprise Support Tools (BEST) and the Egyptian Junior Business Association.

The program aims to increase economic activity in the African region by promoting job skills and preparing young people for successful, long-term careers. The program is supported by a grant from Samsung and is being implemented by IYF and local partner organisations in each country.

“It’s truly my pleasure to be a part of this campaign as it not only benefits the community at large but does so in the creative and innovative spirit that Samsung embodies,” said Kwang-Hak Koh, Cairo branch manager.

The long term goal and mission of Samsung Real Dreams  is to foster a culture of youth entrepreneurship in Egypt, to improve prospects for employment and income generation for the thousands of young Egyptians expected to enter the job market over the coming years.

This program will target over 2,500 students and out-of-school youth and will aim to create 370 internships, jobs and entrepreneurial businesses.
