Bahrain Web Awards, which will recognise and honour excellence in web design in various categories, was launched today (Nov 25).

The Bahrain Web Awards is a member of Pan Arab Web Academy (PAWA) which conducts an annual competition for the websites in almost all the Arab countries.
 
The awards ceremony will be presented under the auspices of Bahrain Information Technology Society (BITS) in association with Microsoft, MSN Arabia and BSA and hosted by SJS Group. TradeArabia is the official online media partner for this event.

“The first edition of Bahrain Web Awards is an encouragement for all sectors to showcase their websites and be more involved in IT. Its objective is to promote the spirit of innovation and creativity, advocate growth and development of local talents and encourage all sectors to become involved in the digital economy,” said Ahmed Hussain Naeemi, vice-president of BITS.

The event aims at bringing together web design companies, freelancers, web owners, IT developers in a competition for the best website in 24 different categories.

Bahrain Web Awards is a platform for creative people to showcase their works and attain market recognition too, said Badea Esbai, country manager, Microsoft.

The selection for the best website will be done by the Pan Arab Web Academy (PAWA) consisting of University professors and specialists in the IT field from all over Mena.

Winners will be presented with a trophy. They will also be entitled to qualify for the prestigious PAN Arab Web Awards competition which takes place once a year and its participants are winners from Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Yemen and Bahrain.

Participants for the Bahrain Web Awards can register online from today (Nov 25) to enter the competition, said Austin D’Silva, chief executive officer of SJS Group.
