Al Ghurair City displays “Save Water” paintings
Dubai, November 23, 2008
Al Ghurair City is hosting a unique exhibition from November 22 to December 14 that showcases 1,000 paintings done by school children, as part of a major initiative by the Ministry of Education to promote water conservation.
The paintings are the 1,000 entries that have been short listed from among the 100,000 entries received in the hugely popular Save Water Painting Competition that was held under the patronage of the UAE Ministry of Education, to create awareness of the looming water crisis.
The exhibition at Al Ghurair City provides an excellent visual insight into the thought-process of young minds, and their approach towards environmental issues like water shortage, said an official.
Targeted at school children between the age of 6 and 11 years, the Save Water Painting Competition received thousands of entries from over 750 schools.
The short listed entries are now on display at the exhibition in Al Ghurair City. From these 1,000 paintings at Al Ghurair City, the judges will select 100 winners, who will be felicitated at a grand award ceremony on December 15.
“We believe the UAE Children's Painting Competition - Save Water is a wonderful initiative to create awareness about the need for water conservation,” said Mukta Sabharwal, manager, PR and Events, Al Ghurair City.
Families visiting the exhibition at Al Ghurair City can also participate in a fabulous Eid in Dubai promotion that offers shoppers the chance to win up to Dh3 million in cash prizes.-TradeArabia News Service
