The Syrian government issued a tender on Wednesday to buy 25,000 tonnes of white rice for delivery into Tartous or Latakia ports on the Mediterranean.

The tender document, issued by the state-owned Foreign Trade Organisation, said offers must be submitted on a cost plus insurance plus freight (CIF) basis by November 18.

The shipment date will be one month after receipt of the letter of credit. The rice can be long, medium or short grain.-Reuters
