Bahrain's Cabinet praises police for drugs bust

Manama, October 13, 2008

Bahrain's Cabinet praised police action on Sunday in foiling an attempt to smuggle massive quantities of drugs into Bahrain.

Traffickers were seized with a haul of 142kg of hashish and 0.5kg of opium. Ministers also briefed the Prime Minister on latest developments concerning the recent Molotov cocktail attack on three civilians in Demistan and measures taken to track down those responsible, said a report in our sister publication, the Gulf Daily News.

Chaired by Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Cabinet called for co-ordination of official and non-official efforts to confront similar terror attacks that target the kingdom's security and citizens' safety in order to maintain national achievements.

It also re-affirmed the transparency and independence of the judiciary as well as sound measures taken by the Interior Ministry regarding the death of policeman Majid Asghar Ali Kareem Baksh in Karzakan. - TradeArabia News Service
