EMS buys Greenlight's LEDs to save energy

Dubai, September 1, 2008

Energy Management Services (EMS), has picked Greenlight-Energy's lighting devices to reduce energy consumption at its offices by 63 per cent.

This initiative will allow EMS to save energy, cut costs and provide an eco-friendly environment within its premises. Expected to last up to at least 50,000 hours, LEDs do not contain harmful chemicals such as mercury, emit significantly less heat than normal lights, and reduce the burden of already crowded landfills.

“The measure comes from our belief that eco-friendly habits at the workplace significantly help businesses implement a relentless energy conservation drive. It is also one of the best ways to reduce consumption of energy without impacting the working environment,' said Khaled Bushnaq, chief of EMS.

With long-term estimates of LED efficacy at 150-200 lumens per watt, white LEDs offer lighting professionals significant benefits especially for ambient settings. In addition, white LEDs provide long life and unparalleled efficiency, as well as safe and eco-friendly energy.

“LED lighting is considered eco-friendly and can significantly contribute towards reducing fossil fuel depletion and carbon dioxide emissions,' said Robert Viehweger, general manager of Greenlight-Energy.

Recently, EMS qualified as a Green Building Sustainability (GBS) consultant for EHS, the Environmental Health and Safety regulatory arm of Dubai World.
