’Sheila and Abaya Fashion,’ a DSS Signature Event, has turned out to be a major crowd puller with fashion enthusiasts from across the region flocking to Burjuman for a glimpse of the innovative collections on display.

The event, which opened to packed crowds on August 7, will run up to August 11. On the second day of the event, collections from Al Yashmac (Saudi Arabia) and Al Motahajiba from Qatar, were displayed on the ramp at BurJuman.

Shaikha Al Jassmi, senior events co-ordinator at Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) said, “The inclusion of designers from around the GCC is testimony to the popularity of ’Sheila and Abaya Fashion’ and how designers view the event as a regional platform to reach out to a wider audience.”

The Al Yashmac range of clothing, conceived by Saudi-based designer Mohammed Al Samhan, has quickly gained prominence due to the use of a wide range of material including silk, crepe, and denim, she explained.

The show to be held in the evening (today) will feature collections from Al Motahajiba, a Qatari brand that is known throughout the GCC. It will also showcase collections of Al Anood Ali Saleh, and the label, Kashmir Art Gallery.

These have been characterized by the use of embellishments and the emphasis laid on the practicality of the abaya.-TradeArabia News Service
