Blends and Brews, a Dubai-based specialty coffee shoppe, has plans for rapid expansion in the local and international markets, after tasting success in their initial ventures.

The company wants to start outlets in all key locations in the UAE including malls, high streets, educational institutions, corporate blocks, fuel stations, airports, theme places and other upcoming projects, and is hoping to add 20 plus outlets by the end of 2009.  

"The first phase of international expansion will concentrate on the Middle Eastern and Far East markets, later we wish to expand to Europe and Asia," said Farhad C, business development manager.

"We have already received enquires to open up Blends  and Brews Coffee Shoppe at Singapore, Malaysia, Iran, United Kingdom, Egypt and Saudi Arabia,’ he added.

The chain is part of the Thumbay Group which has landmark achievements in the fields of medical education, healthcare services, leisure facilities and is further diversifying into other areas. 

Blends and Brews has got its own espresso blends such as tropical gold and blenders sparkle in addition to seven varietals of tea (both iced and hot), cold coffees, iced and creamy smoothie, soda pops, gelato ice creams, creamy shakes and specialized chocolate drinks for kids. 

One can also find a big and aesthetically designed food range to add further to the coffee experience of the customers. The menu includes short eats that features well with the beverage menu including savories and confectionery.

The company attributes its success to its Barista Training Academy, where in they offer their expertise to train their own staff and also train new talent in the region, said an official.

The chain won the ’Best signature drink of the year-2006’ award at the first UAE Barista Championship held at Dubai Trade Center in Association with DSS Summer Fiesta and ILLY Caffé.

It also won the “Platinum Award” at the Indian Barista Championship for the Year 2007 Organized by ‘The Specialty Coffee Association of India and Coffee Board of India’  

Their Barista represented Blends and Brews Coffee Shoppe at the World Barista Championship in Tokyo, Japan in July -2007.
