Amateur designers around the country will vie for the prestigious Crystallized Arabian Creation award when their designs are judged during the Sheila and Abaya Fashion show – a DSS 2008 Signature Event and one among the fashion highlights of this summer.

The Sheila and Abaya Fashion will be held from August 7 to 11 at BurJuman, a key sponsor of DSS this year and a member of Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG).

The Crystallized Arabian Creation Award is an initiative between the Dubai Shopping Festival Office and Swarovski Middle East to recognise the talents of promising and upcoming designers in the UAE.

The awards will be handed out on the final day of the Sheila and Abaya Fashion on August 11.
 
The Award this year is the culmination of a lengthy process during which hundreds of aspiring designers were screened and the best ten among them selected.

As part of its programme to familiarise the ten designers with Crystallized - Swarovski Elements, a new product brand from Swarovski for all loose crystal products, the Swarovski Creative Service Centre hosted an extensive training workshop at its facility on July 10.
 
In between intensive sessions, the amateur designers were taken through the latest trends in abaya and traditional wear. The forecasted trends for the next fashion season were also presented as part of the workshop.
 
The aim of the creative workshop was to enrich the knowledge of the participating designers on the latest trends and fashion, and also provide them with the necessary and updated know-how on crystal application.

The outcome of the workshop will be evident in the designs entered by the participants for the much-awaited Crystallized Arabian Creation Award. - TradeArabia News Service
