A scheme to upgrade the Bahrain government sector's performance and productivity has been announced.

It will be implemented by the new Bahrain Centre for Excellence, which will evaluate the government's performance and assign experts to follow up on the implementation of its recommendations.

The objective is to ensure that the government's performance reaches the highest levels of excellence, said the Premier's cultural affairs adviser Mohammed Al Mutawa.

"The centre, which will be set up soon, will further improve the government's services and the skills of the employees," he said.

"The establishment of the centre comes in line with the global changes in managing the government and raising the standard of work performance.

"It will set up standards and measures to reach this objective in co-operation with all government organisations.

Al Mutawa was speaking at a seminar about the centre held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel and Spa.

It was conducted by centre expert Mohammed Buhiji who explained the benefits of the scheme.

"Once the new standards are implemented then the government bodies will be able to offer improved services to citizens and residents in line with international standards," said Al Mutawa.

"I expect that the programmes' success to begin to show in the next two years and hopefully the governmental organisations will develop themselves accordingly."-TradeArabia News Service
