LG hosts journalism workshop

Amman, June 25, 2008

LG Electronics hosted a journalism workshop at Sheraton Amman Hotel.

The aim was to strengthen the ties with media organisations operating in Jordan, said an official spokesman.

The workshop curriculum was designed to focus on enhancing the tools journalists use when undertaking investigative reporting projects. The workshop will allow them to ensure the dissemination of accurate information to LGE customers and to strengthen their presence in the domestic market.

Over 43 members from LGE media club attended the workshop.

The workshop sessions were conducted and supervised by executive manager of Arab Reporters Investigative Journalism Rana Sabbagh. It focused on the responsibilities of journalists seeking information from both legal and ethical points of view, while shedding light on the steps needed to write or prepare a successful press report.

Sabbagh also explained how to use the Internet as a source of information and research. She also discussed several ideas that should contribute to improving methods of writing and reporting structure.

“It is of most importance that journalists should abide by the principles of media when preparing news and press reports,” added Sabbagh. "We can not be completely neutral, but we have to have the intellectual honesty to be aware of our emotions. Complete honesty is our duty as responsible journalists.”

“We, at LGE, always strengthen our relationship with the media sector. In 2006 we initiated the establishment of LGE media club, stemming from our belief that media members best serve our community,” said general manager of LGE, Amman, Kevin Cha. – TradeArabia News Service
