Training course for ministry staff ends
Dubai, June 12, 2008
The first phase of a programme to boost competence in UAE’s federal government ministries has been completed.
The programme was conducted by Etisalat Academy and its eCompetency Centre for 15 ministries. It included three main areas - designing a consistent framework for competencies and professional skills within the federal government; skills description and the assessment of skills for the 300 participants from all professional levels.
The development of a consistent framework covered eight key areas such as leadership, strategic thinking, customer service, planning, administration and technical skills. In the definition of skills, the course covered leadership and the latest world-class practices.
The third part was based on an assessment based on skills and how they matched with specific careers, including leadership and qualifications, and highlighted factors that determine career development and motivation.
eCompetency Centere manager Mariam Mohammed said: “Applying modern development programmes helps in standardising work methodologies, culture and institutional identities. It also supports the creation of a fundamental basis for development programmes, training and systems for employees in the federal government.
“Through this programme we were keen on offering the latest methods of skill development training in order to help increase the efficiency of the participating ministries.” – TradeArabia News Service
