DuPont to discuss sustainable energy options at WEF
Cairo, May 18, 2008
DuPont, as one of the world’s most dynamic science companies, is taking part as a strategic partner at the ongoing World Economic Forum (WEF) in Sharm El Sheikh.
Juan G. Aguiriano, safety resources global director, sustainable solutions, DuPont de Nemours International, Switzerland will be speaking on the panel entitled “Fuelling the Future” at the WEF which runs till May 20.
The session will address global energy issues, the role of the Middle East, and potential regional business opportunities in green technology and innovation, including renewable energy and nuclear power.
“At DuPont, we recognize that today’s energy challenges and opportunities have no borders and no boundaries. None of us have the resources or wisdom to independently solve the needs of our citizens and, clearly, collaboration is key,” said Aguiriano.
'The drive for renewable energy and material is a challenge that we embrace. In fact, DuPont’s total research and development (R&D) for 2007 was $1.4 billion. About 65 per cent of this total was spent on new product development with the remainder focused on process development.'
That’s just a small glimpse of the bigger picture. DuPont is a global partner with over 200 years of science expertise to form the backbone of our innovations toward sustainable solutions essential to a better, safer, healthier life for people everywhere.”
This year’s WEF, entitled “Learning from the Future”, is of particular interest to DuPont, which has been closely involved with the Forum for more than five years.
As a Strategic Partner, DuPont is able to contribute to defining WEF agenda topics and will have a number of representatives present at the Forum including Khaled El-Dessouky, Country Manager DuPont Egypt and North Africa Growth Leader.
“Egypt plays an essential role in the region as a mediator and thought leader, a role that will likely only increase as global energy issues impact the region,” said El-Dessouky.
“DuPont has set a rigorous program to achieve our 2015 Sustainability Goals which include innovations focused on water conservation, fleet fuel efficiency, environmentally smart market opportunities from our R&D efforts, and generating revenues from non-depletable resources,' he added.-TradeArabia News Service
