WRDC hosts SME awareness programme
Abu Dhabi, April 27, 2008
As part of its plan to promote entrepreneurship among the UAE nationals in the western region, the Western Region Development Council (WRDC) and Khalifa Fund for Small and Medium Enterprises have organised an SME awareness programme across the region.
The first two sessions, which took place in Madinat Zayed and Mirfa earlier this week, proved a great success, said an official spokesman.
The road show consists of five awareness sessions in total and will continue until May 5, aiming to help and encourage Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the region.
WRDC and Khalifa Fund are encouraging all residents that are interested in improving their current SME or wanting to establish a new business to participate. Residents are welcome to walk in and join any of the free sessions being held across the region over the next two weeks.
The sessions begin at 6pm until 8.30pm in each location. Three more sessions will be held at the following locations: Danat Resort, Jebel Dhanna (Ruwais / Ghayathi) on April 28, Delma Motel (Delma Island) on April 29 and in Sila close to the Community Hall on May 5.
The ultimate objective of the awareness road show is to support and boost entrepreneurship in the region, whilst also explaining and illustrating business opportunities currently available for SMEs.
WRDC and Khalifa Fund are raising awareness among participants of the advantages to establishing and managing their own successful businesses’ in the region.
“We have partnered with Khalifa Fund to put such a programme in place that has never been done before in the Western Region. This is a big step towards helping and encouraging our existing and aspiring entrepreneurs,” said WRDC director general Mohammed Hamad Al Mazrouei.
“So far, the response we have received from the residents has been overwhelming following the first two sessions held in Madinat Zayed and Mirfa. We are now looking forward to meeting and raising awareness with even more of our potential entrepreneurs in the upcoming sessions.”
