Clyde & Co remains top law firm in UAE
Dubai, April 10, 2008
Clyde & Co is again the only law firm in the UAE to achieve recognition across all areas of intellectual property expertise.
The 'Managing IP' (MIP) magazine worldwide survey was conducted over five months to reveal the top IP law firms operating in both the prosecution and contentious categories in 65 jurisdictions, including the UAE, the company said in a statement.
The contentious work refers to legal work related to IP, such as licensing, enforcement and litigation, while prosecution work refers to filing of patents or trade marks and associated activities.
MIP's survey results are based on extensive work research across the US, UK and Asia towards end of last year and early this year.
The survey methodology comprised interviews with law practitioners as well as compilation, analysis and classification of information obtained from questionnaires, firm peers assessments, in-house counsel views and clients' recommendations on the basis of experienced quality and depth of each listed firm practice.
The outcome of this extensive research revealed detailed rankings of the leading law firms practicing IP in each country featured in the research work.
The leading firms were classified in lists presented in the form of tiers of variable sizes according to extent and state of the IP market in that country. The top tier listing represents the strongest firms in each category.
Members of Clyde & Co's Middle Eastern IP team have been sourced from top tier specialist firms from around the world, including Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the UK.
The team also includes a number of specialists from within the Middle East, so as to be able to provide clients with a blend of local knowledge and experience, and international-standard quality.
Rob Deans, who leads the team, has been named by the prestigious Chambers Global legal directory as a leading lawyer in the UAE in the area of intellectual property. The team overall is also ranked by the directory as ‘top tier’, the company said. – TradeArabia News Service
