14,000 visit Bride Show Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi, February 23, 2008
More than 14,000 visitors attended the sixth edition of four-day Bride Show Abu Dhabi, the organisers said in a statement.
The event, organised by IIR Middle East, hosted more than 200 exhibitors, including European bridal gown manufacturers and popular regional designers, such as Ghanati Haute Couture and Rahmanian Haute Couture.
Every service and item that a bride could possibly need was available to help plan a perfect wedding, from photography, flowers and honeymoon providers to spas, custom-made jewellery and wedding invitations, the organiser said.
Each day four designers launched their latest collections, which included bridal wear, Abayas and haute couture creations, modelled on the catwalk to rapturous applause and flashing cameras.
The last day featured designs by the finalists of the inaugural Swarovski Abaya Design Awards, a competition to launch undiscovered design talent. Eiman Al Marzouqi, a UAE national from Abu Dhabi, was named the winner of the Award for her unique use of Swarovski crystals to embellish the traditional national dress.
Following the success of the exhibition, IIR Middle East is expecting The Bride Show Dubai, taking place from April 23-26 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre, to bring in more than 30,000 visitors.
Now in its 11th year, the show will include additional features for visitors and exhibitors, including the Swarovski Young Designers Award as well as The Arabian Home Show and Women’s Healthcare which run alongside the event.
“The turnout and interest we have received in Abu Dhabi has been excellent. Our exhibitors have reported strong sales from the four days and are more than satisfied that their names, products and services have reached the individuals who want them the most,” said The Bride Show Exhibition Manager Daphne Cota.
“Now we are looking forward to The Bride Show Dubai, which will be even larger, with more than 400 exhibitors from 13 countries. We are hosting the biggest fashion event in the UAE with 20 fashion shows over four days. International and local exhibitors will showcase everything from wedding gowns, haute couture fashion, and hair and beauty services to wedding organisers, venues and honeymoon destinations,” he added.
Exclusive discounts and daily competitions will be taking place at The Bride Show Dubai and one lucky visitor will win the grand prize of a luxury honeymoon package courtesy of Wild Discovery, the organiser said.
Women’s Healthcare and The Arabian Home Show, running alongside The Bride Show Dubai, broaden the appeal for visitors as brides and young women take an active interest in their health and wellbeing, particularly in preparation for their wedding, and newlywed couples start to decorate their marital homes, it added. – TradeArabia News Service
